Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 ［産業上の利用分野］ 本発明は、広帯域ISDN、ケーブル・テレビションシス
テム等を利用した番組配信システムに関するものであ
り、特に、挿入する広告と視聴料とをリンクすることが
可能な番組配信システムに関する。
［従来の技術］ 広帯域ISDN網はATM（Asynchronous Transfer Mode:非
同期転送モード）をベースに動画からデータまでのマル
チメディア情報を統合的に取り扱える。現在各国での研
究が進められており、特に動画までも取り扱えることに
より、従来の放送システムを改革するものと期待されて
いる。特に任意番組アクセス機能及び広帯域伝送による
高品位テレビ画像伝送が期待されている。
第３図にこのような放送システムの１例をあげる。放
送局（ヘッド・エンド）115のプログラム・ソース関連
としては、従来のTV放送や衛星放送の再送信、独自番組
の放送を含むリアルタイム放送ソース101、視聴者のリ
クエストに応じて該視聴者に動画番組、静止画情報を送
信する動画番組データベース102、番組送出装置103、静
止画データベース104、静止画送出装置105、視聴者と制
御情報４のやりとりを行ない、これにしたがって上記各
構成要素の制御を行なう主制御装置106がある。
プログラム伝送、交換関連では、動画番組信号１、放
送信号６及び静止画信号13を帯域圧縮する画像エンコー
ダ107、さらには符号化（圧縮）された映像信号８をセ
ル（情報パケット）に編成し、該当する視聴者個別の広
帯域伝送路19に接続するためのヘッダ（論理チャネル番
組：宛先）を付加するセル・アセンブラ108、セルのヘ
ッダに従って該セルを所定の広帯域伝送路19に接続する
ためのATM（Asynchronous Transfer Mode）交換機109か
らなっている。
制御情報４の下り方向のものはセル・アセンブリ108
によりセル化され、下り制御情報セル20となってATM交
換機109にはいる。他方、上がり制御情報セル21はセル
・ディスアセンブラ110によりヘッダを除去され、所定
のデータを連結した後制御情報４として主制御装置106
に転送される。
各視聴者ごとの宅内システム116は、ヘッド・エンド
とのインタフェースをつかさどり、セルのアセンブル・
ディスアセンブルを行なうネットワーク・ターミナル11
1,符号化（帯域圧縮）された映像信号８を復号するデコ
ーダ112,テレビ・モニター114、上記構成要素を制御
し、また視聴者と放送局の制御情報のやりとりを行なう
端末制御装置113からなっている。
一方で、米国を中心とするケーブル・テレビジョン・
システム（CATV）は無料の広告挿入ベーシック・サービ
スにより市場を広げ、50程度のチャンネルを用いてある
程度の選択性を満足させている。
第４図にこのような放送システムの１例をあげてい
る。ここで、ヘッド・エンド（放送局）117は、第３図
と同様なリアルタイム放送ソース106、動画番組データ
ベース102、番組送出装置125、上記動画番組のプログラ
ム・スケジュール信号126を発生し、これらの番組視聴
に対する視聴者への課金を行なう主制御装置、各番組信
号４、放送信号６、制御情報４を変調し、周波数多重信
号にして複数の放送伝送路５に分配する変調器／混合分
配器119から構成されている。
ケーブル・テレビジョン・システムに関する一般的な
文献としては以下の（２），（３）があげられる。ま
た、広帯域ISDNに関連する解説記事としては（１）があ
げられる。

レコム、1986 ［発明が解決しようとする課題］ 従来の広帯域ISDNを利用した放送システムは、現行放
送システムを発展させた広告ベースの放送形態をとって
いない。このため、広告主（スポンサ）からの多額の広
告費で放送制作費、運用費、設備費を負担できず、視聴
者に大きな料金負担を強いることになる。
また、従来のCATVでは、視聴者の希望に応じた広告の
挿入が出来ないため、広告なしの視聴には高額の視聴料
が徴収される（1987年時点で約＄10（￥1,300）／映画
１本）。
その一方で、広告が挿入された無料のベーシック・サ
ービスに対しては、十数チャネルからの希望番組を選択
できるに過ぎない。
したがって、このままでは視聴者の番組及び広告の量
／質に関する多様な要求には対処できない。
そこで、本発明の目的は、挿入する広告と視聴料とを
リンクすることが可能な番組配信システムを提供するこ
とにある。
［課題を解決するための手段］ 上記目的を達成するために、本発明の番組配信装置
は、複数の動画番組を保持する記憶装置と、ネットワー
クを介して端末装置から番組配信要求と広告の挿入要求
とを受信し、上記記憶装置から上記番組配信要求に対応
する動画番組を選択し、該動画番組を複数の情報ブロッ
クに分割して搭載し、該複数の情報ブロックを上記ネッ
トワークを介して上記端末装置に配信すると共に、上記
広告の挿入要求で指定された広告を挿入するタイミング
で広告映像を搭載する情報ブロックを割り込ませて上記
ネットワークを介して上記端末装置に配信する配信手段
と、上記広告の挿入要求で指定された広告を挿入するタ
イミングに応じて課金を異ならしめるよう制御する制御
装置とを有する。
望ましくは、上記配信手段は、上記広告の挿入要求に
応じて、上記広告映像を上記動画番組内に挿入して放送
するか否かを判断する手段を有し、上記制御装置は、上
記動画番組内に挿入して放送するか否かに応じて課金を
異ならしめるよう制御する。
［作用］ 本発明の番組配信装置は、広告の挿入タイミング又は
広告挿入の有無と課金とがリンクする。
［実施例］ 本発明の番組配信システムを、図１を用いて説明す
る。まず、高機能の広告処理のため、広告データベース
131を放送局115に設け、視聴者が希望した番組に視聴者
が希望した広告を挿入するため、上記データベース及び
番号データベースを適宜アクセスする番組放送装置103
及び広告送出装置132を設ける。ATM交換機108を介して
各視聴者に、希望の番組、広告が伝送される。また、宅
内システムにおいては、番組と広告の時間的整合をとる
ための映像信号バッファ161,160及びこれらの出力を混
合するミキサー162を設ける。
上記システムでは、広告の挿入法に以下の表に示すモ
ードが用意され、視聴者の多様な要求に答えることが出
来る。また同表にあるように、課金がこれにリンクされ
ている。
各視聴者は広帯域伝送路19を介して希望番組、希望広
告情報を放送局に転送する。放送局ではこの情報を主制
御装置106で受け、番組送出装置103及び広告送出装置13
2を制御する。
上記システムの動作を第２図を用いて説明する。動画
番組データベース102の第１チャネル（ch1）から視聴者
ａに向けてフレーム映像信号（動画番組信号１他）P1a
−1,……p1a−７が送り出される。画像エンコーダ及び
セル・アンセンブラにより符号化映像セルが生成され
る。該符号化映像セルはセルの行き先を示すヘッダ75及
び符号化された映像信号76から構成されており、１セル
の長さは34〜128バイトの範囲内で一定である。符号化
する前の各映像信号1,14,15,16,13（第１図）の１フレ
ーム・データは高品位TVで1Mバイトであり、これを画像
エンコーダにより約1/4の250Kバイトの符号化映像信号
８におとす。ところで、動きの少ない静止画に近い映像
を符号化した場合、符号化映像信号８は数ｋバイトとな
る。これにより、第１図で示したようにフレームによ
り、対応する符号化映像セルの個数が異なる。例えばp1
a−１フレームに対しては２セル、p1a−３フレームに対
しては４セルが対応している。図では簡単のために、フ
レーム数、セル数を少なくしてある。
さて、視聴者ａがch1からの番組にch5からの広告を挿
入するようにリクエストしたものとする。まず、番組の
第２フレームp1a−２にコマーシャル挿入可能のインデ
クスが付加されている場合、時刻T1で動画番組信号１が
一時停止され、動画広告信号16が読みだされ、符号化広
告映像セルが視聴者ａに送られる。広告の第２フレーム
には広告終了インデックスが付加されており、これによ
り、広告送出を終了すると共に動画番組信号の送出を再
開する（時刻T2）。時刻T3では同様にしてch5からの広
告を挿入する。このようにして、視聴者ａは同図に示す
ような受信セルを得て、同図に示すような希望の広告を
挿入した映像信号を受信する。視聴者ｂはch2の番組にc
h4からの広告を挿入している。視聴者ｃはch3の番組を
コマーシャルレスで見ている。
次に、インデックスのフォーマットと、これを用いた
制御方法に関して説明する。
MUSE（Multiple sub−Nyquist Sampling Encoding）
規格高品位TVでは上記インデックスが第７図の斜線部に
示すように、各フレームごとに469画素x40ライン分入れ
ることができる。データ量としては469x40x8ビット≒15
0kbitにもなる。誤り訂正符号を用いたとしても100kbit
は確保できる。ここにはこのほかに後述するポインタ情
報も同図フォーマットで入れておく。
NTSC方式の従来の標準TV信号に対して第８図に示す形
式で、奇数フィールドに790x5x8bit≒31kbit、偶数フィ
ールドに790x4x8bit≒25kbitだけのインデックス及びポ
インタ情報を入れる。
このほか、欧州の標準規格に予定されているHD−MAC
（High Definition Multiplexed Analogue Component
s）方式、米国での標準化が検討されているACTV（Advan
ced Compatible TV）方式はじめ他の高品位TV方式に対
しても同様にしてインデックス及びポインタ情報を入れ
ることが出来る。
第３図は、インデックスの情報例を示したものであ
る。ここでは、まず3bitで対象映像信号の種別を表す映
像識別子を設けてある。続いて、映像の登録番号に相当
する32bitの映像コードを設けてある。これにより、各
映像種別に40億個までのデータを管理することが出来
る。次に、映像が作成／修正された日時をやはり32bit
の来歴コードで記録する。広告映像フレーム以外には広
告挿入点前のフレーム数を8bitコードで表す。このコー
ドが全部“1"の場合は広告が挿入されないとする。この
ように、広告挿入点以前から情報を得ることが出来るた
め、リアルタイムの制御（広告挿入）にも容易に対処で
きる。広告映像フレームの場合は広告終了点前のフレー
ム数を上記コード・フィールドに書き込む。また、広告
の挿入回数を管理するため、広告挿入点通し番号フィー
ルドも設けてある。
上記インデックス信号で起動されるべき画像データベ
ースをアクセスするデータベース制御テーブル134が主
制御装置106の中に設けてあるが（第１図）、その構成
を第４図に示す。ここでは、視聴者の設定にしたがっ
て、データベース制御テーブル134の内容が同図のよう
にあらかじめ用意され、各映像データベースからのイン
デックス信号83を受けてしかるべき起動信号84を発行す
る。まず、テーブル134の入力アドレスとして、視聴者
コード及び広告挿入点通し番号が用いられる。広告映像
データ・ベースから帰ってきたインデックスに関しては
連想メモリをも併用し、連想メモリ入力として映像識別
コードを用いる。このように、データベース制御テーブ
ルには表１の広告挿入モードにしたがって、各視聴者の
アクセス・スケジュルがプログラムされている。
上記操作をリアルタイムで処理するため、広告挿入点
前（広告終了点前）フレーム数が“11111111"（10進数
で255）以下になった時点で、制御テーブル参照を開始
し、しかるべきデータベースの起動をスタンバイさせて
おく。この状態で上記フレーム数が“0"となった瞬間、
スタンバイ中のデータベースを起動する。
広告挿入操作を宅内システム側で処理することも可能
である。第５図がその手段を示したものである。ここで
は、主制御装置106の中に設けたアクセス・シーケンス
・テーブル155にしたがって、視聴者がリクエストした
映像データ広告を対応させて送出する。広告挿入モード
は前記表１のものに準ずる。この際、先程の手段１とは
異なり、放送局側でリアルタイムのデータ・アクセス管
理を行なう必要はない。放送局は、単に映像データに対
応した広告を、映像データに該広告が挿入される時刻以
前に送出するだけでよい。また、各種映像データは広告
挿入のために中断することなく、連続して送出できる。
これにより、放送局データ・アクセス制御がリアルタイ
ムでなくともよくなり、放送局における各種送出装置及
ぶ主制御装置の構成が簡単になる。
宅内システム116では、広告を一時記憶しておくため
の広告バッファ160、及び広告の挿入により映像データ
・ベースからの映像信号を待たせる必要があることか
ら、番組バッファ161も設けてある。広告挿入のシーケ
ンスは記録された各映像フレームの中のインデックスに
書き込まれており、ミキサー162はこのインデックスに
したがって広告バッファ及び番組バッファから映像デー
タを読み込み、テレビ・モニター114に合成信号を渡
す。このようにすることにより、従来広告と番組が時間
的に完全に分離していたものを同時刻に合成し表示する
こともできる。動画番組と静止画広告の組み合わせなど
が実現できる。また、広告との組み合わせばかりでな
く、静止画データと関連性のある動画データの組み合わ
せも可能である。
上記システムの作用を第６図を用いて説明する。動画
番組データベース102の第１チャネル（ch1）からは視聴
者ａに向けてフレームからなる動画番組が送出される。
先程の場合と異なり、広告が挿入されるにもかかわら
ず、このように連続してデータが送出できる。第２フレ
ームの後にチャネル４からの広告、及び第５フレームの
後にチャネル５からの広告が挿入されることになってい
る。このため、番組送出時に、しかるべき広告を挿入す
るためのインデックスが付加される。
その一方で広告は、それらが挿入される前に、データ
ベース／広告対応テーブル155にしたがって該当視聴者
に送出される。視聴者ａに対してはチャネル４及び５か
らそれぞれ２フレームの広告が送出される。視聴者はこ
れらの番組セル及び広告セルを受け取り、デコーダ112
でデコードした上で番組バッファ161及び広告バッファ
−160にそれぞれ記録する。
番組バッファ161の映像データをテレビ・モニターに
表示しながら、表示フレームに付加されたインデックス
をモニターする。広告挿入点がインデックスにより指示
された場合、番組バッファの読み出しを一時停止すると
共に、しかるべき広告を広告バッファ160から読み取り
表示する。しかし、インデックスの内容によっては、広
告と番組の同時表示を行なう。この場合、インデックス
にはモニター画面上の広告挿入座標が明記されている。
ミキサー162はこれを読み取り、しかるべき画像の合成
を行なう。
次に、インデックスのフォーマットと、上記インデッ
クス及びアクセス・シーケンス・テーブル155を用いた
制御方法に関して説明する。
第17図は、手段２に対応するインデックスの情報例を
示したものである。ここでは、まず3bitで対象映像信号
の種別を表す映像識別子を設けてある。続いて、映像の
登録番号に相当する32bitの映像コードを設けてある。
これにより、各映像種別に40億個までのデータを管理す
ることが出来る。次に、映像が作成／修正された日時を
やはり32bitの来歴コードで記録する。広告映像フレー
ム以外には広告挿入点前のフレーム数を8bitでコードで
表す。このコードが全部“1"の場合は広告が挿入されな
いとする。このように、広告挿入点以前から情報を得る
ことが出来るため、リアルタイムの制御（広告挿入）に
も容易に対処できる。広告映像フレームの場合は広告終
了点前のフレーム数を上記コード・フィールドに書き込
む。また、広告の挿入回数を管理するため、広告挿入点
通し番号フィールドも設けてある。
さらに、次にアクセスすべき映像コード及びその識別
子を付加する。
最後の二つのコードは、放送局で第１−２図のコード
付加装置を用いて視聴者対応に付加される。
放送局115での番組アクセス・シーケンスはアクセス
・シーケンス・テーブル155により管理される。上記テ
ーブルには表１の広告挿入モードにしたがって、各視聴
者のアクセス・スケジュールがプログラムされている。
このフォーマット及びこれを用いたデータベースのアク
セス制御を第８図を用いて説明する。ここでは、視聴者
の設定にしたがって、アクセス・シーケンス・テーブル
155の内容が同図のようにあらかじめ用意され、各映像
データベースからのインデックス信号85を受けてしかる
べき起動信号86およびインデックスへ付加するコード48
を発行する。
テーブル155の入力アドレスとしては、視聴者コード
及び広告挿入点通し番号が用いられる。データとしては
各広告挿入点に対応する広告または他の映像データの映
像識別子，映像識別コード，広告ミキシング・モード及
び広告挿入座標が設定されている。
上記操作をリアルタイムで処理するため、広告挿入点
前（広告終了点前）フレーム数が例えば“11111111"（1
0進数で255）以下になった時点で、制御テーブル参照を
開始し、起動信号86を発行してしかるべき広告または映
像データベースＸを起動する。また、同時に挿入すべき
該広告または映像データベースＸの映像識別子及、映像
識別コード，広告ミキシング・モード及び広告挿入座標
を含む付加コード情報48を発行し、画像エンコーダ107

Claims (2)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】複数の動画番組を保持する記憶装置と、 ネットワークを介して端末装置から番組配信要求と広告
    の挿入要求とを受信し、上記記憶装置からから上記番組
    配信要求に対応する動画番組を選択し、該動画番組を複
    数の情報ブロックに分割して搭載し、該複数の情報ブロ
    ックを上記ネットワークを介して上記番組装置から上記
    端末装置に配信すると共に、上記広告の挿入要求で指定
    された広告を挿入するタイミングで広告映像を搭載する
    情報ブロックを割り込ませて上記ネットワークを介して
    上記番組装置から上記端末装置に配信する配信手段と、 上記広告の挿入要求で指定された広告を挿入するタイミ
    ングに応じて課金を異ならしめるよう制御する制御装
    置、 とを有することを特徴とする番組配信装置。
  2. 【請求項２】上記配信手段は、上記広告の挿入要求に応
    じて、上記広告映像を上記動画番組内に挿入して放送す
    るか否かを判断する手段を有し、 上記制御装置は、上記動画番組内に挿入して放送するか
    否かに応じて課金を異ならしめるよう制御することを特
    徴とする請求項１に記載の番組配信装置。
