Abstract
【解決手段】本発明の表示装置は、表示部および表示部の周辺に設けられた周辺回路部を含む回路基板と、表示シート層と、回路基板に表示シートを貼り付ける接着層と、表示シート上に設けられて画素電極との間で該表示シートに電圧を印加可能な対向電極とを備えた表示装置において、回路基板は、接着層による貼り合せ面が凹部および凸部を含む凹凸構造を有しており、凹凸構造は、平面視した状態において、周辺回路部の外縁まで形成されていることを特徴とする。

Description
この構成によれば、凹凸の面積比が最適化されるので、良好な気泡排出性を実現できる。
この構成によれば、凹部が複数方向に延びるので、気泡を周辺回路部の外側まで確実に排出することができる。
この構成によれば、凹部の深さが最適化されるため、加熱処理中に凹部に接着層が流れ込んで気泡を排出できなくなることを防止するとともに、圧着時においては凹部内に接着層を良好に入り込ませることを両立させることができる。
この構成によれば、凹凸構造の外縁部が接着層で覆われることで貼り合せ面の封止性を高めることができる。
この構成によれば、接着層が凹凸構造の外側まで拡がることで回路基板の外周に設けられた端子を覆ってしまうことが防止される。よって、端子が接着層で覆われることによる接触不良の発生を防止できる。
この構成によれば、凹凸の面積比が最適化されるので、良好な気泡排出性を実現できる。

なお、以下の説明で用いる図面は、特徴をわかりやすくするために、便宜上特徴となる部分を拡大して示している場合があり、各構成要素の寸法比率などが実際と同じであるとは限らない。
図1は本実施形態の電気泳動表示装置を示す等価回路図である。図2は電気泳動表示装置の構成を示す図であり、図2(a)は平面構成図であり、図2(b)は図2(a)のA−A線矢視による断面図である。
素子基板30を構成する基板本体71は、ガラスやプラスチック等で構成されている。この基板本体71は、視認側とは反対側に配置されるため、透明なものでなくてもよい。基板本体71の電気泳動素子32側の一面に半導体層72が形成され、半導体層72を覆うようにゲート絶縁膜73が形成されている。半導体層72には、例えばアモルファスシリコン、多結晶シリコン等の非単結晶シリコン材料、酸化物半導体材料、In−Ga−Zn−O等の透明酸化物半導体材料、フルオレン−ビチオフェン共重合体等の有機物半導体材料、等を用いることができる。半導体層72に酸化物半導体材料を用いる場合には、ゲート絶縁膜73にも酸化物絶縁材料を用いることが望ましく、また、半導体層72に有機物半導体材料を用いる場合には、ゲート絶縁膜73にも有機絶縁材料を用いることが望ましい。
また、凹部81の深さが0.2〜3.6μmに設定されることで深さが最適化されるため、加熱処理中に凹部81に接着層50が流れ込んで気泡90を排出できなくなることを防止するとともに、圧着時においては凹部81内に接着層50を良好に入り込ませることを両立させることができる。
例えば、上記実施形態では、電気泳動シート51のサイズが、凹凸構造80の形成領域(第2層間絶縁膜76)のサイズよりも大きい(図2参照)場合を例に挙げたが、本発明はこれに限定されない。例えば、電気泳動シート51のサイズが、凹凸構造80の形成領域(第2層間絶縁膜76)のサイズよりも小さくしても良い。この場合、図10に示すように、接着層50は、第2層間絶縁膜76の側端面を覆わない状態となる。そのため、電気泳動シート51を貼り合せる際、加熱されて粘度が低下した接着層50が外部接続端子7を覆ってしまうことで接触不良等の不具合の発生を確実に防止することができる。

- 表示部および前記表示部の周辺に設けられた周辺回路部を含む回路基板と、表示シート層と、前記回路基板に前記表示シートを貼り付ける接着層と、前記表示シート上に設けられて画素電極との間で該表示シートに電圧を印加可能な対向電極とを備えた表示装置において、
前記回路基板は、前記接着層による貼り合せ面が凹部および凸部を含む凹凸構造を有しており、
前記凹凸構造は、平面視した状態において、前記周辺回路部の外縁まで形成されていることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記凹凸構造は、前記凹部および前記凸部の面積比が10〜90%に設定される
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記凹凸構造は、前記凸部の平面形状がストライプ状、格子状、三角状、及びハニカム状のいずれかである
ことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記凹凸構造は、前記凹部の深さが0.2〜3.6μmに設定される
ことを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記接着層は、前記凹凸構造の形成領域の外側まで配置される
ことを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記接着層は、前記凹凸構造の形成領域の内側に配置される
ことを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。 - 表示部および前記表示部の周辺に設けられた周辺回路部を含む回路基板と、表示シート層と、前記回路基板に前記表示シートを貼り付ける接着層と、前記表示シート上に設けられて画素電極との間で該表示シートに電圧を印加可能な対向電極とを備えた表示装置の製造方法において、
前記回路基板の形成工程において、前記接着層による貼り合せ面に、平面視した状態において、前記周辺回路部の外縁まで凹凸構造を形成することを特徴とする表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記凹部および前記凸部の面積比が10〜90%となるように前記凹凸構造を形成する
ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記凸部の平面形状が、ストライプ状、格子状、三角状、及びハニカム状のいずれかとなるように前記凹凸構造を形成する
ことを特徴とする請求項7又は8に記載の表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記凹部の深さが0.2〜3.6μmとなるように前記凹凸構造を形成する
