Abstract
【解決手段】第1のケーシング17に形成した混合室20内に連結パイプ22を貫通して配置し、連結パイプ22の一端を閉塞して尿素水溶液の噴射ノズル27を設置すると共に、混合室20内で連結パイプ22に排ガスの圧損を生じない程度の多数の孔22aを貫設し、連結パイプ22の他端を第2のケーシング23に接続して内部にSCR触媒24を収容する。混合室20内の排ガスを各孔22aを経て連結パイプ22内に導入して撹拌させ、その排ガス中に噴射ノズル27から尿素水溶液を噴射して拡散・霧化の促進を図る。

Description
本発明はこのような問題点を解決するためになされたもので、その目的とするところは、還元剤の霧化・拡散の促進と内燃機関の排圧低減とを両立でき、もって、触媒装置の各部位に還元剤を均等に供給して良好な浄化性能を達成できると共に、内燃機関の排圧を低減して良好な走行性能を実現することができる内燃機関の排気浄化装置を提供することにある。
請求項2の発明は、請求項1において、第1のケーシングが、内燃機関の排ガスの流通方向に沿った略筒状をなし、連結パイプが、上流側の端部が第1のケーシングの一側面から他側面に貫通するように配設され、第1のケーシングの側方に配設された第2のケーシングに向けて排ガスを案内すると共に、第1のケーシング内において排ガスの流通方向の上流側に比して下流側が大径となるように多数の孔が貫設されたものである。
従って、連結パイプ内で排ガスは相互に衝突して撹拌されることから、排ガスが衝突する連結パイプの中心部の撹拌作用が最も強いが、還元剤が噴射ノズルから連結パイプの軸線に沿って噴射されることから、結果として連結パイプ内を移送中の還元剤は強い撹拌作用に継続して晒され、その拡散・霧化の促進が一層確実なものになると共に、連結パイプの内周面への付着がより確実に防止される。
請求項2の発明の内燃機関の排気浄化装置によれば、請求項1に加えて、連結パイプ内での排ガスの撹拌ムラを防止して良好に撹拌でき、もって、還元剤を一層良好に拡散・霧化して浄化装置の浄化性能を向上することができる。
以下、本発明をSCR触媒を備えたディーゼル機関の排気浄化装置に具体化した第1実施形態を説明する。
図1は本実施形態の内燃機関の排気浄化装置を示す全体構成図である。本実施形態の排気浄化装置はトラックに搭載されており、図1ではトラックへの搭載状態と同様の配置で内燃機関1及び排気浄化装置2を示すと共に、トラックの床下を部分的に示している。なお、以下の説明では、車両を主体として前後方向及び左右方向を規定する。
内燃機関1の吸気側には吸気マニホールド6が装着され、吸気マニホールド6に接続された吸気通路7には、上流側よりエアクリーナ8、ターボチャージャ9のコンプレッサ9a、インタクーラ10が設けられている。また、内燃機関1の排気側には排気マニホールド12が装着され、排気マニホールド12には上記コンプレッサ9aと同軸上に連結されたターボチャージャ9のタービン9bが接続されている。タービン9bには排気通路13が接続され、排気通路13に上記排気浄化装置2が設けられている。
上記排気通路13は、車体の床下のプロペラシャフト16と右側のサイドレール3aとの間において後方に延設されている。一般的なトラックでは、そのまま排気通路13が車体後部まで延設されて、排気通路13上に排気浄化装置2の各構成部材が直列配置されるが、本実施形態のトラックでは荷台長さの関係で床下の前後スペースが十分でないため排気通路13を右側に取り回して側方排気している。この排気通路13の取り回しの関係で、排気通路13上に設置された排気浄化装置2のレイアウトも変則的なものになっており、以下に詳述する。
図3は排ガス流通状態を表す図2に対応する部分拡大断面図である。第1のケーシング17の混合室20内において、排ガスは各孔22aを経て連結パイプ22内に導入され、矢印で示すように、連結パイプ22内では周囲の各孔22aを経て排ガスが全周より中心部に集約されて相互に衝突しながら下流側の第2のケーシング23に向けて移送される。衝突により排ガスは強力に撹拌され、この撹拌中の排ガスに噴射ノズル27から尿素水溶液が噴射されるため、尿素水溶液は排ガス中に十分に拡散・霧化された状態で第2のケーシング23側に移送される。
加えて、連結パイプ22内での撹拌作用は排ガスが衝突する中心部が最も強いが、尿素水溶液が噴射ノズル27から連結パイプ22の軸線Lに沿って噴射されることから、結果として連結パイプ22内を移送中の尿素水溶液は強い撹拌作用に継続して晒されることになる。よって、尿素水溶液の拡散・霧化の促進が一層確実なものになると共に、連結パイプ22の内周面への付着がより確実に防止される。
即ち、本実施形態の排気浄化装置2によれば、圧損増加を防止するために各孔22aの総開口面積を多少拡大しても、上記した各孔22aにより得られる排ガスの撹拌作用が妨げられることはなく、結果として尿素水溶液の拡散・霧化の促進と内燃機関1の排圧低減とは必ずしもトレードオフの関係にはならない。従って、尿素水溶液の拡散・霧化の促進と内燃機関1の排圧低減とを高次元で両立でき、良好なNOx浄化性能と走行性能とを共に実現することができる。
[第2実施形態]
次に、本発明を別の内燃機関1の排気浄化装置2に具体化した第2実施形態を説明する。本実施形態の排気浄化装置2は第1実施形態のものと比較して図2に示した連結パイプ22の構成が相違し、図1に示す全体的な構成は同一である。よって、同一構成の箇所は共通の部材番号を付して説明を省略し、相違点を重点的に説明する。
[第3実施形態]
次に、本発明を別の内燃機関1の排気浄化装置2に具体化した第3実施形態を説明する。本実施形態の排気浄化装置2は第1実施形態のものと比較して第1のケーシング17と第2のケーシング23との配置が異なり、それに伴って第1のケーシング17の混合室20に対する連結パイプ22の接続状態が相違する。よって、同一構成の箇所は共通の部材番号を付して説明を省略し、相違点を重点的に説明する。
以上のように構成された本実施形態の排気浄化装置では、上記第1実施形態と同様に噴射ノズル27からの尿素水溶液の供給状態がECU31により制御される。また、連結パイプ51内での排ガスの撹拌も第1実施形態と同様に行われ、混合室20内において排ガスが各孔51aを経て連結パイプ51内に導入され、この撹拌中の排ガスに噴射ノズル27から尿素水溶液が噴射されて、尿素水溶液の拡散・霧化が促進される。よって、重複する説明はしないが、第1実施形態で述べた各作用効果が本実施形態でも得られる。

Claims (3)
- 内燃機関の排気通路に配設された第1のケーシングと、
上記排気通路の上記第1のケーシングの下流側に配設されて浄化装置を収容した第2のケーシングと、
上記第1のケーシングと第2のケーシングとを連結すると共に、上流側の端部が上記第1のケーシング内に挿入され、該挿入部分に内外を連通させる多数の孔が貫設されて、各孔を経て上記第1のケーシング内の排ガスを内部に導入して上記第2のケーシングに向けて案内する連結パイプと、
上記連結パイプ内に先端を挿入配置され、該先端より上記浄化触媒の作動に要する還元剤を噴射する噴射ノズルと
を備えたことを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 上記第1のケーシングは、上記内燃機関の排ガスの流通方向に沿った略筒状をなし、
上記連結パイプは、上流側の端部が上記第1のケーシングの一側面から他側面に貫通するように配設され、該第1のケーシングの側方に配設された上記第2のケーシングに向けて排ガスを案内すると共に、上記第1のケーシング内において排ガスの流通方向の上流側に比して下流側が大径となるように上記多数の孔が貫設されたことを特徴とする請求項1記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 上記噴射ノズルは、上記連結パイプの軸線に沿って上流側から下流側に向けて還元剤を噴射することを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
