Abstract
【解決手段】ビデオ信号のデータから画素部に流れる電流の基準値を計算する。そして、該ビデオ信号のデータにしたがって画素部に画像を表示し、そのときに画素部全体の発光素子の駆動電流を測定する。そして、測定した駆動電流が基準の値になるように、可変電源から画素部に供給される電圧の値を補正する。上記構成によって、有機発光層の劣化に伴う輝度の低下を抑えることができ、その結果鮮明な画像を表示することができる。

なお所定の補正電圧の値は比較回路137において予め定めておき、偏差電流が電圧の補正を行わない範囲からはずれている場合は全て、該所定の補正電圧の値を電源制御回路122に入力するようにする。

よって駆動用TFT306はオフとなる。よって電源電位がOLED307の画素電極に与えられなくなり、1ライン目の画素が有するOLED307は全て非発光の状態になる。
画素数カウンタ回路300は、カウンタ回路301、パルスカウンタ用メモリ303、加算回路304を有している。本実施例の補正回路は、図6または図8に示した補正回路108において、電流値計算回路120が有するカウンタ回路123または130を、画素数カウンタ回路300にそのまま置き換えたものに相当する。
ただし、1ライン目の画素にはパラレル処理方式で信号が入力されるが、カウンタ回路301にはシリアル処理方式で信号が入力される。
算出された発光している画素の総数は、後段の回路にデータとして送られる。具体的には、図6では除算回路124に、図8では乗算回路132に入力される。

この半導体層902〜905の厚さは25〜80nm(好ましくは30〜60nm)の厚さで形成する。結晶質半導体膜の材料に限定はないが、好ましくは珪素(シリコン)またはシリコンゲルマニウム(SiXGe1-X(X=0.0001〜0.02))合金などで形成すると良い。本実施例では、プラズマCVD法を用い、55nmの非晶質珪素膜を成膜した後、ニッケルを含む溶液を非晶質珪素膜上に保持させた。この非晶質珪素膜に脱水素化(500℃、1時間)を行った後、熱結晶化(550℃、4時間)を行い、さらに結晶化を改善するためのレーザーアニ―ル処理を行って結晶質珪素膜を形成した。そして、この結晶質珪素膜をフォトリソグラフィ法を用いたパターニング処理によって、半導体層902〜905を形成した。
基板側(試料ステージ)にも224mW/cm2のRF(13.56MHz)電力を投入し、これにより実質的に負の自己バイアス電圧が印加される。この条件でW膜のエッチング速度は約100nm/minである。第1のエッチング処理はこのエッチング速度を基にW膜がちょうどエッチングされる時間を推定し、それよりもエッチング時間を20%増加させた時間をエッチング時間とした。

Claims (9)
- 発光素子と、
前記発光素子に流れる電流を測定する手段と、
ビデオ信号を用いて、前記発光素子に流れる電流の基準となる電流値を算出する手段と、
前記測定した電流値と、前記基準となる電流値の偏差を算出する手段と、
前記偏差から、前記発光素子に流れる電流が前記基準となる電流値に近づくような、前記発光素子に供給される電圧値を算出する手段と、
前記発光素子に供給される電圧を、前記算出された電圧値に近づくように補正する手段とを有し、
前記偏差が一定の幅で変化するごとに、前記算出された電圧値が一定の大きさで変化することを特徴とする発光装置。 - 画素部、補正回路、可変電源及び電流計を有し、
