Abstract
本発明は、L−I特性の変質を原因とする輝度低下を抑制することを目的とする。
【解決手段】
本発明のパルス幅変調方式の表示装置は、該画素のピーク電流値を測定する電流測定回路19と、該画素の累積使用時間と該画素の劣化状態との少なくとも1つに応じて基準電流値を算出する基準電流値算出回路195と、基準電流値を目標として画素のピーク電流値を制御する陽極電源回路15とを備える。

Claims (15)
- マトリクス状に配置された複数の画素を有する表示パネルと、該画素に接続された信号線に外部からの映像データに応じた信号電圧を供給する信号線駆動回路と、該画素に接続された走査線に該信号電圧を供給すべき画素を選択するための選択信号を供給する走査線駆動回路と、該複数の画素に電力を供給する駆動電源回路と、外部からの信号を該信号線駆動回路と該走査線駆動回路を制御する制御信号に変換する表示制御回路とを備え、該信号電圧に応じた期間該画素に該駆動電源回路からの該電力を供給することにより階調を表示するパルス幅変調方式の表示装置において、
該画素の電流値を測定する測定回路と、
該画素の累積使用時間と該画素の劣化状態との少なくとも1つに応じて基準電流値を算出する算出回路と、
該基準電流値を目標として該画素の電流値を制御する電流制御回路とを備えることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 該測定回路は、該画素の1フレーム期間内の最大電流値を該画素の電流値として測定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 該測定回路は、該画素の1フレーム期間内の該駆動電源回路からの該電力の供給開始時の電流値を該画素の電流値として測定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 該電流制御回路は、該駆動電源回路が該画素に供給する電力の電圧を制御することにより、該画素の電流値を制御することを特徴とする請求項1〜3の何れかに記載の表示装置。
- 該画素は、赤色画素と緑色画素と青色画素とを含み、
該電流制御回路は、該赤色画素の電流値と該緑色画素の電流値と該青色画素の電流値とを個別に制御することを特徴とする請求項1〜4の何れかに記載の表示装置。 - 該測定回路は、該赤色画素の電流値と該緑色画素の電流値と該青色画素の電流値とを個別に測定することを特徴とする請求項5に記載の表示装置。
- 該駆動電源回路は、該画素に供給する電力を制限することを特徴とする請求項1〜6の何れかに記載の表示装置。
- 該表示装置の累積使用時間を測定する時間測定回路と、
該表示装置の累積使用時間に基づいて該画素の劣化状態を推定する推定回路することを特徴とする請求項1〜7の何れかに記載の表示装置。 - 該映像データの1又は複数のフレーム期間内の平均輝度を測定する測定回路と、
該推定回路は、該表示装置の累積駆動時間と該映像データの平均輝度に基づいて該画素の劣化状態を推定することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の表示装置。 - 該推定回路は、該表示装置の累積使用時間が長いほど、該画素の劣化度合は大きいと推定することを特徴とする請求項8又は9に記載の表示装置。
- 該画素に一定の電流を流したときの該画素に印加される電圧に基づいて該画素の劣化状態を推定する推定回路を備えることを特徴とする請求項1〜7の何れかに記載の表示装置。
- 該推定回路は、該画素に一定の電流を流したときの該画素に印加される電圧が小さいほど、該画素の劣化度合は大きいと推定することを特徴とする請求項11に記載の表示装置。
- 該算出回路は、該画素の累積使用時間が長いほど、該基準電流値を大きくすることを特徴とする請求項1〜12の何れかに記載の表示装置。
- 該算出回路は、該画素の劣化度合いが大きいほど、該基準電流値を大きくすることを特徴とする請求項1〜12の何れかに記載の表示装置。
- マトリクス状に配置された複数の画素を有する表示パネルと、該画素に接続された信号線に外部からの映像データに応じた信号電圧を供給する信号線駆動回路と、該画素に接続された走査線に該信号電圧を供給すべき画素を選択するための選択信号を供給する走査線駆動回路と、該複数の画素に電力を供給する駆動電源回路と、外部からの信号を該信号線駆動回路と該走査線駆動回路を制御する制御信号に変換する表示制御回路とを備え、該信号電圧に応じた期間該画素に該駆動電源回路からの該電力を供給することにより階調を表示するパルス幅変調方式の表示装置の駆動方法において、
該画素の累積使用時間と該画素の劣化状態との少なくとも1つに応じて基準電流値を算出し、
該画素の電流値を測定し、
該基準電流値を目標として該画素の電流値を制御することを特徴とする表示装置の駆動方法。
