Description

The present invention relates to a distortion correcting jig for a transport tray used for transporting the work-in-process in a display panel manufacturing process. In the present invention, the display panel includes an organic EL panel in addition to the liquid crystal display panel.

A liquid crystal display panel or an organic EL panel includes a display portion and a panel terminal portion, and an extraction electrode connected to the display electrode in the display portion is formed on the panel terminal portion. With the recent high definition of display, the extraction electrode is formed as a thin line pattern with a narrower line width and line width, and therefore, it is becoming a situation where electric corrosion is likely to occur.

Further, a flexible substrate such as COF (chip on film) is connected to the panel terminal portion, and an IC bare chip for driving a liquid crystal is mounted on the panel terminal portion in a COG (chip on glass) type model. A protective resin liquid is applied on the panel terminal portion in order to prevent the electrolytic corrosion of the extraction electrode and protect the connection portion of the flexible substrate and the IC bare chip. Usually, a silicone resin is used for the protective resin liquid from the viewpoint of moisture resistance.

Since the application of the protective resin liquid can be performed by dropping with a dispenser from the upper surface side of the panel terminal portion, in many cases, the transport tray is not taken out from the transport tray as described in Patent Document 1. I'm going inside. This is reasonable because it takes less time to take out.

As a conventional example, FIG. 5 shows a plan view in which the liquid crystal display panel 1 is housed in the transport tray 10, and FIG. 6 shows a state in which a protective resin liquid is applied to the panel terminal portion of the liquid crystal display panel 1 in the transport tray 10. A cross-sectional view is shown. Although FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram, the conveyance tray 10 in FIG. 6 reflects a form actually used.

The transport tray 10 is a molded product of synthetic resin, has side frames 11 on four sides, and the inside thereof is partitioned in a lattice shape by intermediate partition walls 12 that run vertically and horizontally. One liquid crystal display panel 1 is housed in each of the compartments, and is transported between the processes. The liquid crystal display panel 1 basically includes a display portion 1a and a panel terminal portion 1b, but is stored in the transport tray 10 with the orientation of the panel terminal portion 1b being aligned.

Although not shown in FIG. 5, the protective resin coating process is carried in with the IC bare chip 2a and the flexible substrate 2b previously attached to the panel terminal portion 1b of the liquid crystal display panel 1 in the previous process as shown in FIG. Then, a protective resin liquid (for example, silicone resin) 4 is applied onto the panel terminal portion 1b by the dispenser 3. In FIG. 6, the liquid crystal display panel 1 arranged on the right side shows a coated state.

The dispenser 3 is movable with respect to the XY plane and the Z-axis direction perpendicular to the XY plane by a three-axis direction moving mechanism (not shown). After moving on the panel terminal portion 1b, the dispenser 3 is moved to the vicinity of the panel terminal portion 1b. The protective resin liquid 4 is dropped by being lowered in the axial direction.

As described above, in the protective resin application step, the protective resin liquid 4 is applied to the panel terminal portion 1b while the liquid crystal display panel 1 is still in the transfer tray 10, and this includes the transfer tray. 10 has the following problems.

That is, since the transport tray 10 is a synthetic resin molded product that is repeatedly used over a long period of time, distortion may occur during that time. This distortion gives the liquid crystal display panel 1 a tilt or a height position higher than usual.

When the dispenser 3 descends in such a state, the dispenser needle 3a may come into contact with the panel terminal portion 1b and the needle tip may be damaged. In such a case, it is necessary to stop the movement of the dispenser 3 and replace the dispenser needle 3a, and time is wasted during that time, and productivity is lowered.

Further, even if the dispenser needle 3a does not contact the panel terminal portion 1b, the distance between the dispenser needle 3a and the panel terminal portion 1b varies for each liquid crystal display panel 1 due to the distortion of the transport tray 10. The coating amount may not be stable and poor coating may occur.

In order to prevent distortion in the transport tray, there are a method of increasing the thickness, a method of using a lot of ribs to increase the mechanical strength, and a method of using a resin material having good deformation resistance. However, in any case, it is not preferable because it involves an increase in cost.

Therefore, the problem of the present invention is that when the protective tray is applied to the panel terminal portion with the dispenser while the display panel is still in the transport tray, the distortion is generated in the transport tray. An object of the present invention is to provide a distortion correcting jig for a transport tray for a display panel, which is temporarily corrected so that an appropriate amount of a protective resin liquid can be applied accurately without causing damage to a dispenser needle.

In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention provides a transport tray in which the inside is partitioned in a lattice shape by a partition wall and the display panel is accommodated in each partition and transported to each predetermined process. Distortion correction treatment for the display panel transport tray for correcting the distortion generated in the transport tray when the protective resin liquid is applied onto the panel terminal portion of each display panel by the dispenser while the display panel is housed in the display panel. A weight plate having a weight capable of correcting distortion generated in the transport tray and detachably mounted on the transport tray, corresponding to each panel terminal portion of the display panel An opening for lowering the dispenser toward the panel terminal portion is provided at a place to be operated.

In this invention, the said weight board may be formed so that it may be mounted on the side frame of the said conveyance tray, and may be formed so that it may be mounted on an intermediate partition wall. An embodiment in which the weight plate is formed in a square frame shape along the side frame of the transport tray is also included in the present invention.

As another aspect, the weight plate is provided with a pressing portion that comes into contact with the display portion of the display panel, so that the load of the weight plate is applied to the transport tray via the pressing portion and the display panel. It is preferable to make it.

The pressing portion is preferably made of a synthetic resin material from the viewpoint of preventing the display portion from being damaged, and the contact area of the pressing portion with respect to the display portion is the display area in order to reduce adverse effects on the polarizing film and the in-plane spacer. It is preferable that it is 1/4 or more of the area of a part.

According to the present invention, the weight of the transport tray is corrected by placing the weight plate on the transport tray in the protective resin coating step, and the weight plate corrects the dispenser on the panel terminal portion. Since the opening to be lowered is provided, the protective resin liquid can be applied onto the panel terminal portion from an appropriate height position by lowering the dispenser to the vicinity without causing the dispenser to contact the panel terminal portion.

Various aspects are included in the present invention. In particular, the weight plate is provided with a pressing portion that comes into contact with the display portion of the display panel, and the load of the weight plate is applied to the transport tray via the pressing portion and the display panel. By doing so, the contact between the dispenser and the panel terminal portion is surely prevented, and the stability of the sealing quality by the protective resin liquid is improved. As an incidental effect, it is possible to relax the molding accuracy and material designation of the transport tray.

Next, the first embodiment and the second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4, but the present invention is not limited to this.

First, a first embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 1 is a plan view schematically showing a state in which the weight plate 20 according to the first embodiment of the present invention is placed on the transport tray 10, and FIG.

In the present invention, the transport tray 10 may be the same as that used in the conventional example described above. That is, the transport tray 10 is a molded product of synthetic resin, has side frames 11 on four sides, and the inside thereof is partitioned in a lattice shape by an intermediate partition wall 12 that runs vertically and horizontally.

Then, in each section, as shown in FIG. 2, the liquid crystal display panel 1 in which the IC bare chip 2a and the flexible substrate 2b are attached to the panel terminal portion 1b is stored in the same direction and the protective resin is applied by the dispenser 3. It is carried into the process. Instead of the liquid crystal display panel 1, an organic EL panel may be stored in the transport tray 10.

Prior to the application of the protective resin liquid by the dispenser 3, the weight plate 20 that is the distortion correction jig of the present invention is placed on the transport tray 10. The weight plate 20 may be made of metal or synthetic resin as long as it has a weight capable of correcting the distortion when the conveyance tray 10 is distorted. Metal plates such as materials are used. In addition, when the weight is insufficient, another weight may be additionally placed or the weight may be applied by mechanical pressurizing means.

In the illustrated example, the weight plate 20 is formed in a square plate shape slightly larger than the transport tray 10, and the dispenser needle 3 a of the dispenser 3 is placed on the panel terminal portion at a portion corresponding to the panel terminal portion 1 b of the liquid crystal display panel 1. An opening 21 is drilled so that it can be lowered to near 1b. Note that the movement of the dispenser 3 may be controlled by a triaxial moving mechanism (not shown) as in the conventional example.

Therefore, according to the present invention, the weight plate 20 is placed on the transport tray 10, and the transport tray 10 is not distorted by the load, and the panel terminal portion 1 b is dispensed by the dispenser 3 through the opening 21. A protective resin solution can be applied to the substrate. That is, since the transport tray 10 is not distorted, the dispenser needle 3a does not come into contact with the panel terminal portion 1b, and the protective resin liquid can be dropped onto the panel terminal portion 1b from an appropriate height position.

Note that the weight plate 20 may be formed in a lattice shape along the inner partition wall 12 on the assumption that the transport tray 10 can be weighted to correct the distortion. The plate 20 can also be formed in a square frame shape along the side frame 11 of the transport tray 10.

Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view showing a state in which the weight plate 30 according to the second embodiment of the present invention is arranged on the transport tray 10, and FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view showing only the weight plate 30. In FIG. 3, the conveyance tray 10 reflects the form actually used like FIG. Further, the liquid crystal display panel 1 arranged on the right side shows a state where the protective resin liquid 4 has already been applied.

Similarly to the weight plate 20 according to the first embodiment, the weight plate 30 according to the second embodiment preferably has a weight capable of correcting the distortion when the conveyance tray 10 is distorted. A metal plate such as a stainless steel material may be used, and an opening 31 for allowing the dispenser needle 3a of the dispenser 3 to be lowered to the vicinity of the panel terminal 1b is provided at a portion corresponding to the panel terminal 1b of the liquid crystal display panel 1. In this second embodiment, the load of the weight plate 30 is transmitted to the transport tray 10 via the liquid crystal display panel 1.

Usually, the liquid crystal display panel 1 is stored so as to be immersed in each section of the transport tray 10. That is, since the partition wall 12 is formed at a height higher than the thickness of the liquid crystal display panel 1, the weight of the weight plate 30 cannot be applied to the liquid crystal display panel 1 as it is.

Therefore, in the second embodiment, a pressing portion 32 that contacts the display portion 1 a of the liquid crystal display panel 1 is provided on the back surface of the weight plate 30, and the load of the weight plate 30 is passed through the pressing portion 32 and the liquid crystal display panel 1. To be added to the transport tray 10.

According to this, even if the conveyance tray 10 is distorted, the distortion is corrected and the liquid crystal display panel 1 is more reliably aligned to a certain height. Therefore, the contact with the panel terminal portion 1b of the dispenser needle 3a is caused. Without causing damage, a stable sealing quality by the protective resin liquid can be obtained in each liquid crystal display panel 1.

In addition, since the press part 32 contacts the display part 1a directly, it is preferable that the press part 32 is made of a synthetic resin material so that the display part 1a is not damaged by the contact. Further, if a load is locally applied to the display unit 1a, the polarizing film and the in-plane spacer (both not shown) may be adversely affected. Therefore, the contact area of the pressing unit 32 with respect to the display unit 1a is the area of the display unit 1a. It is preferable to set it to 1/4 or more.
