なお、蛍光ランプのガラス管外径が透明管の内径より小さく、かつOリングの外径が透明管内径と同じか小さい関係を保っていれば、管径及び全長は任意のサイズで適用できることは自明である。
直管2重管形蛍光ランプは、主に低温域のショ−ケ−ス用として用いられている。蛍光ランプは低温域では明るさが低下する特性があり、周囲温度0℃での使用時には、周囲温度20℃の時と比較すると25%程度明るさが低下。そのため蛍光ランプ自体は低温域での使用には不向きである。しかし蛍光ランプ自体に透過率の高いガラス管を覆わせることで、その覆われたガラス管が保温効果を持ち蛍光ランプ自体への周囲温度低下を抑えることができる。この蛍光ランプを透過性の高いガラス管で覆い、ランプ両端部を熱収縮チュ−ブで固定して、保温用ガラス管と蛍光ランプを一体化させた構造のランプが直管2重管形蛍光ランプである。
本発明は直管2重管形蛍光ランプの構造において、保温用ガラス管の形状変更及び蛍光ランプと保温用ガラス管との間にスペ−サを設けたことである。
