Abstract

The projectile stopper 10 comprises at least two deflector plates 11, 12 which form at least one projectile-conveying conduit having a cross-section which decreases in the general direction in which the projectiles travel towards a narrow outlet opening 17. This opening 17 is adjacent to the entry 21 to a projectile-connection container 20. The arrangement is such that entry 21 to collection container 20 can be reached by projectiles originating from firing station P either along direct trajectories or along trajectories which include at least one impact against one of the said plates 11, 12. Container 20 contains a mass 27 of a thermoplastic absorbent material which is designed to capture the projectiles and which has a melting point which is lower than the melting point of the projectiles. After use such mass 27 can be removed and thermally separated from the projectiles, and therefore reused. <IMAGE>
