Abstract
In a sector-type gearbox for a motor vehicle, built as an epicyclic transmission 2, a sun gear 3 is driven by an output shaft 4 belonging to a pre-engaged fundamental gearbox, while a planet gear carrier 8 belonging to the epicyclic transmission 2 is coupled integrally to the rotation by a driven shaft 9 belonging to the sector-type gearbox. In order to engage a lower-speed sector-type unit of the sector-type gearbox a first drive coupling 13 connects an inner ring gear 6 of the epicyclic transmission unit 2 to a speed-change box 1. With the aid of structurally simple drive means it is intended to avoid the transmission of torque via the epicyclic transmission 2 in a higher-speed sector-type unit in which direct transmission takes place. For this purpose use is made of a second drive coupling 19 actuated together with the first drive coupling in such a way that, when the first drive coupling 13 is disengaged, it connects the planet gear carrier 8 directly to the output shaft 4 of the fundamental gearbox. (Figure 1)
