Abstract
A tyre/rim assembly has a tread with sidewalls and ends with a closed bead ring at the inner radial edge, each bead having an inextensible core; a one-piece rim has a well base to hold the tyre between two axially separate bead seatings. Each bead seating is inclined outwards axially and radially and ends in a radially outer clinch to hold the bead in position. One or each bead seating is flat and ends at a circumferential lip on the axially inner side; the lip is continuous and has an o.d. no greater than the min. o.d. of the bead to allow the tyre to be drawn on by passing over the lip. The max. radius of the radial outer face of the lip in relation to the width and angle of the bead seating allows the bead to turn about the lip and to hold the bead on its seating under operating loads. Holds its bead in position (even on sharp bends) as in Patent DE PS 27 24 996 but without using toes at the beads or a annular groove on the rim.
