Abstract

The boring tool consists of a body (5), one end of which is profiled with six conical panels (8) and clearance groove (12) and a central tapped hole (11). There is an interchangeable head (1) made from a single piece of tungsten carbide which has, e.g., three cutting edges (2, 3, 4) regularly spaced around the circumference. The head also has a hub (6) provided with a bore with six conical panels (7) and a central hole and lodging (10) for the fixing screw (9). The cutting edges can be exchanged by simply rotating the tool and the interchangeable head allows different sized heads to be used on the same body permitting an economy in stocking tools and expansion of the range of bore sizes.
