Polypiptides of gen. formula: R-X-Gly-trp-Y-Asp-Phe-NH2 (where X is thieonyl, methionyl, valyl, phenylalanyl, norleucyl, aminobutylnyl, thryptophyl, tyrosyl or glycyl, y is nordencyl or methionyl, R is Phe(SO3B), 3-(4-sulphonylox)propionylor sulphonyloxycinnamyl and B is H, alkali(ne earth) metal or an organic base) are prepd. by condensing an amino acid or polypeptide with other appropriate amino acid or polypiptide, whose amino and carboxylic gps. are suitably blacked, at -20 degrees C to 35 degrees C for 12 hrs. to 10 days. Specific polypeptides are Phe (SO3H)-Thr-Gly-Trp-Nle-Asp-Phe-NH2, Phe(SO3H)-Abu-Cly-Trp-Nle-Asp-Phe-NH2 etc. cpds. have hypotensive activity and act against pancreatic and bilious secretions of the bile bladder. Cpds are more stable than previous ones contg. tyrosine-sulphate as opposed to the p-sulphonylphenyl contained in R.
