Abstract

The invention is a fancy covering for a sofa and the name is a combination of sofa and fancy. The "sofancie" resembles an extra long scarf which is draped over the cushion's part of a sofa and each end extends over each arm of the sofa. On the underside of the "sofancie" is a number of hanging fabric slats, the number of slats depending on how many cushions there are. The "sofancie" is fixed over the cushions by fastening the slats on the undersides of the cushions. Each end of the material extends over each arm of the sofa and is weighed down by a hemmed-in strip of wood or plastic. The "sofancie" will dispense with the need for expensive chair covers or untidy throwovers for sofas.

The invention is preferably used with upholstered furniture, but may be used for partially upholstered furniture such as patio or conservatory furniture.
Background: Any upholstered furniture is susceptible to wear and tear over a period of time. Some current furniture covers are bulky and must be placed over the whole of the furniture piece.
These covers tend to 'ride up’ on the furniture when the home dweller/residents are sitting on them. This invention hopes to overcome this problem by introducing a furniture cover which ί is specifically placed on the area that are prone to wear and tear the most, i.e. the seating and arm rest area.

In one embodiment (1) the number of attachment bands (3) on the main body portion is four 25 allowing for use in two-seater furniture.
In another embodiment (10) the number of attachment bands (3) on the main body portion is six allowing for use in three-seater furniture.
In one embodiment (100) the number of attachment bands (3) on the main body portion is two allowing for use in single-seater furniture. !n all the embodiments described above the attachment bands can be manufacture from one -----eoRttnuous-pieee-of- materiat-preferabty-etesttosrtgd:' They c^aisd~5e~rfiahufactUfed~td be open-able and ciosed by the used of Velcro or such like.
Brief Description of the Drawings: The invention will be more clearly understood from the foflowing description of an embodiment thereof, given by way of example only,· with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:Figure 1 is a bottom view of the furniture cover for a two-seater couch.
Figure 2 is a bottom view of the furniture cover for a three-seater couch.
Figure 3 is a bottom view of the furniture cover for a one-seater armchair.
Figure 4 is a front view of the furniture cover in position on a two-seater couch.
Detailed Description: Referring to the drawings and initially to Figure 1 there is illustrated a furniture cover (1) 15 according to the present invention comprising a main body portion (2) for attaching to the cushion section of the furniture, this main body having attachment bands (3) for positioning onto the current cushioned area. It also contains at least two side portions (4) for positioning on the armrest area of the furniture, these side portions having attachment bands (5) for positioning onto the armrest, side and underside of the main furniture body. The attachment bands (5) extend the length of the underside of the furniture body. The cover preferably has a front leg portion (6) fixed to the main body portion (2) which when in position drapes over the leg area at the front of the furniture.
In Figure 2 there is illustrated a furniture cover (10) for a three-seater couch with six attachment bands available. in Figure 3 there is illustrated a furniture cover (100) for a one-seater couch with two attachment bands available. in all the embodiments described above the attachment bands can be manufacture from one continuous piece of material, preferably elasticated.
