1495772 Processing organic waste SAF SOC AGRICOLE ET FONCIERE SA 20 May 1975 [3 July 1974 13 Nov 1974] 21369/75 Heading B5A [Also in Division B2] A system for pelletizing organic waste materials for fertilizers comprises areas for storing 1 and mixing 4 organic waste materials, a chamber for passing hot, dust-carrying exhaust gas through mixer to partly dried organic waste material to recuperate the heat in the gas and the dust carried thereby, an oven 6 Fig. 1, for heating mixed organic materials, means to break and pulverize the mixed and partly dried organic materials, an adjustable supply means 15 ... 17, Fig. 3, chopping means 18 receiving organic materials from the supply means, means 20 to extrude the chopped organic materials to form strands, at least one perforated vibratory plate 22 receiving broken stands from the extruder 20, means to supply a rising current of hot air through perforations of the plate and at least one silo (not shown) for the product. As described wet material is stored at 1, liquid manure at 2, dry material at 3 and the wet and dry materials are mixed by a mechanical shovel at 4. Dry material and liquid manure are mixed at 5. Predrying is effected in the oven 6. Metal is removed at 9 and clods are crushed at 10, by rodes having helicoidal ribs, followed by rolling at 12, Fig. 2, the material being stored at 14 with a water content of 50 to 55%. This starting material is chopped by a chopper 18 which includes knives before and after the extruding plate 27, and the stands are further reduce by an extruder 20 which has no cutters. Evaporation of moisture takes place in the vibratory fluidized bed 22. Exhaust gases collected in a chimney 33 are returned to an expansion chamber 7, Fig. 1, which may include a heated belt conveyer or a fixed grid.
