1450440 Absorbent inserts for meal packages RMARX 20 Dec 1973 [28 Dec 1972] 59284/73 Heading B8C [Also in Division A2] A vacuum bag package of meat has an absorbent insert comprising a liquid permeable cushion having a filling of inorganic material which is substantially inert to meat juice and is in a fine grained absorbent form. The filling may comprise silica gel mixed with gum tragacanth, a chalk material, and/or a clay mineral capable of expanding. Manganous chloride or potassium chlorate may be added as preserving agents and citric acid to stabilize the hydrogen ion concentration. The cushion may be of crepe paper sheets stuck together along spaced lines to form individual sections. [GB1450440A]
