1409686 Benzamides SOC D'ETUDES SCIENTIFIQUES ET INDUSTRIELLES DE L'ILE-DE-FRANCE 29 Oct 1973 [31 Oct 1972] 50160/73 Heading C2C Benzamides of the formula wherein R 1 is H or alkyl, R 2 is NH 2 or a group convertible to an amino group by hydrolysis or reduction, R 3 and R 4 each are H or alkyl, W is alkylene and X is H or halogen are prepared by reacting the appropriate benzoic acids or salts thereof with amines of the formula H 2 N-W-N(R 3 )R 4 or acid addition salts thereof in the presence of hexahalo - 2,2,4,4,6,6 - hexahydro - 1,3,5,2,4,6- triazatriphosphorines and, if desired or necessary, reducing or hydrolysing the resulting compounds.
