Abstract
1290963 Electric connectors ESSEX INTERNATIONAL Inc 15 Sept 1970 [15 Sept 1969] 44036/70 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] An electrical connector, Fig. 7, comprises a resilient deformable pad 2e of insulating material, e.g. silicone rubber loaded with a plurality of metal particles, e.g. spheres of Ag or Ag coated Cu. An insulating casing comprising two halves 34, 35, each half having a plurality of conductors 36 with heads 37 projecting within the casing, encloses pad 2e when the halves are latched together as shown, the pad 2e between opposing heads 37 producing conductive paths between such heads. In Fig. 6, similar pads are attached at the forward ends of sprayed-on conductors 30 on a tubular plug 29; when the plug is mated with a socket 31, the pads 2d are compressed by socket contacts 33 to become conductive. A band of pad material spanning all conductors 30 may replace discrete pads 2d. In a circuit board (Figs. 14, 15 not shown) a pad (2i) is compressed between two insulating plates (78, 79) one (78) of which is provided on its inner surface with upstanding ribs (82) which define a conductive pattern. In Fig. 20, wires 103 are electrically connected to wiring 102 on a printed circuit board 101, a pad 2l being compressed, by means of clamped-together insulating bars 104, between wires 103 and wiring 102.
