Abstract

1282874 Pneumatic tyres DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 4 Sept 1969 [5 Sept 1968] 42261/68 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre comprises at least one reinforcement layer, e.g. a filler strip or a chafer strip, the said layer being located solely in a region radially inwardly of a tread shoulder of the tyre and being of rubberized cord fabric comprising steel wires each wire having a diameter of 0À003 inch or less. Preferably the cords consist of wires having a diameter of 0À0016 inch or less twisted into two yarns, which yarns are twisted together with 7¢ turns per inch forming cords of a diameter of substantially 0À038 inch. In a radial tyre the cords of the layer may extend at an angle of at least 40 degrees, preferably 70 degrees to the cords of the carcase ply. [GB1282874A]
