A pneumatic tyre comprises a tread provided with traction bars each extending substantially from the mid-circumferential plane of the tyre towards at least one shoulder, the leading face of each bar having an angle of inclination over a part at least of its length of at least 20 degrees with respect to a radial direction and the trailing face having an angle of inclination substantially between 5 degrees and 10 degrees with respect to a radial direction.
