Abstract

993,511. Glazing. L. MADSEN. Sept. 23, 1963, No. 37310/63. Heading E1R. A glazing assembly for mounting panes in a frame comprises a channel-shaped bottom strip 3, e.g. of extruded thermoplastic resin, with an external protruding part 6 adapted to engage a corresponding groove in the frame 1 and a locking strip 4 also of extruded material accommodated in the channel and having a nose 13 to engage under a rib 8 on the bottom strip 3, the strip 4 being held in position by its resilience, the upper side of the rib 8 supporting the pane which is held under resilient pressure between noses 10, 16 on the respective strips. The strips around the frame may be united by mitre joints, or by the top and bottom strips overlapping the two side strips. Drainage canals 18 lead from the channel through the root of the side prong 11 to the outside. For a double glazed panel, Fig. 3, two such assemblies are placed back to back and are connected by a spacer portion forming with the bridged sides of the bottom strips a deep recess 23 and at each side thereof protruding flanges 24 adapted to engage corresponding grooves in the frame 1.
