Abstract

998,145. Shearing. R. BOCK. Aug. 27, 1962 [Aug. 29, 1961], No. 32790/62. Heading B3W. A machine for cutting steel wire fabrics comprises a power-driven shears which is moved in the cutting direction by an hydraulic drive which acts on the spindle of at least one of the pulleys of a block and tackle device to which the shears is attached. The machine comprises transverse supports 2 and 3 to which lateral flanged arms 41 are connected. A carriage 5 is slidably guided on the members 2, 3 and carries a shears 7, 8 driven by a motor 6. One end of a cable 9, 10, 11, 13 is fastened to the carriage 5 and the cable then passes round a pair of two-sheave pulley blocks 14, 15 one of which is fastened to the support 2 and the other of which is mounted on the piston-rod 17 of an hydraulic cylinder 18. The other end of the cable is fastened to the machine frame 21. A similar block and tackle device comprises a cable 23, 24, 26, of which one end is fastened to the carriage 5 and the other end to the frame at 33. The pulley 28 of the second device is mounted on an extension 30 of the piston-rod 17. The cylinder 18 is secured to the frame and is double acting, the piston rod 17 and the extension 30 are of different diameters so that a rapid return movement is obtained for the same flow of pressure medium. A tubular spring element is fastened to the underside of a presser bar 39 which is pressed down by hydraulic cylinders 35, 36.
