Abstract

997,028. Testing aerials. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. March 29, 1963 [March 29, 1962; March 30, 1962], No. 12469/63. Heading H4A. A screened room for testing acoustic or radio wave radiators is so dimensioned that, if r 1 is the distance between radiator and receiver and # 0 is the angle between once-reflected radiations and the direct radiator-receiver path, # 0 is not greater than 42 degrees, width a=r 1 /tan # 0 , length b=r 1 /sin # 0 and the height of the room above the direct path is b/2; the radiatorreceiver path is so arranged that reflexion paths r<SP>1</SP> 2a and r<SP>1</SP> 2b differ. The room may be entirely lined with wave absorbers or may be selectively lined as described in Specification 997,027; for radio waves the absorbers may be conical structures of graphite embedded in a substance in which the electrical resistance decreases from apex to base, the latter being at the wall surface, or may be plates of resinbonded paper arranged in an orthogonal manner and provided with electrically conductive layers, to form waveguide-like structures.
