Abstract

983,311. Cups. TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION. Feb. 5, 1962 [March 8, 1961], No. 4294/62. Heading A4A. [Also in Division B1] A cup 10, in which a sample of liquid is supplied to an automatic analysis apparatus of the type disclosed in Specification 863,910, has an external shoulder 14, by which it is supported in an aperture 20 in a turn-table support plate 18 and the lower part of the cup has a wall 27 tapering steeply to a flat bottom 27<SP>1</SP> to form a well from which the contents can be completely removed by an aspirated take-off tube 28 while the cup remains upright. The cup is moulded in clear polystyrene and has an integral handle 22 having an identifying device, e.g. a number, moulded in its undersurface. A skirt 29 supports the cup on any flat surface and internal variations in the thickness of the wall 12 provide graduations 34 which are visible from the outside of the cup. To aid mixing, spaced projections or ribs 32, provide turbulence in the liquid when it is stirred by motordriven rotated rod.
