Abstract

986,565. Apparatus for singeing yarns. S.P.R. DHALL. July 8, 1963, No. 26934/63. Heading H5H. A machine for singeing the fluff from fabric comprises a closed chamber 19 having heat insulated walls through which the fabric is drawn downwardly over non-aligned guide rollers 4, 4a and electrostatically charged rollers 4b, 4c to raise the fluff. Disposed on each side of the fabric are heating elements 16 mounted on plates 15 supported on rollers 17 and moved by cams 3 actuating on spring-loaded rods 7 slidably mounted in bearings 9, the cams being positioned by a handle 8 locked into position by an electromagnetically operated catch 6, which is released on failure of the fabric driving unit, thus the elements are moved away from the fabric by the springs 10. It is also arranged that the element current is switched off and an exhaust fan is started.
