985,865. Making shoes. SVIT NARODNI PODNIK. Dec. 28, 1961 [Dec. 29, 1960], No. 46424/61. Addition to 943,849. Heading A3B. An apparatus for slip lasting and subsequently releasing a shoe upper comprises a number of independently operable slip lasting and releasing devices arranged at the upper horizontal run of a conveyer, each device having a slide carriage 70 operated by a system of levers and a cam through a driving shaft 65 rotatable synchronously with the conveyer drive and the releasing device also possessing a mechanism for disengaging a locking pawl 48 of a shoe last 30 mounted on the conveyer. The slide carriage 70 comprises walls 5, 6, a lever 11, its movement being limited by a screw 15, carrying a pad 13 and a lower support 17 of adjustable position having an abutment face 18, members 11 and 17 being connected by a compression spring 14. Carriage 70 moves on ball bearings 9 in groove 72 of guide members 71. Support 17 is connected to one arm of a three-armed lever 28 through a pivoted link 25. Another arm 28<SP>1</SP> of lever 28 co-operates, under the action of a spring 33 secured to the third arm of lever 28, with a cam 29 (lasting carriage) 47 (releasing carriage). In the releasing device the carriage 70 also possesses a cam-operated lever 38 which actuates a spring-loaded button 46 to disengage the locking pawl 48. An upper sewn to an insole is placed on a last 30, the forepart of which is tilted upwardly with respect to the heel part. The last 30 passes to the slip lasting station where pad 13 and face 18 engage the upper, the forepart of the last being moved downwardly and the last is subsequently locked. At the releasing station the last is broken by the engagement of pad 13, face 18 and button 46 so that the shoe may be removed from the last.
