Abstract
N-Substituted borazoles of the formula <FORM:0984806/C2/1> where R represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical, an aromatic hydrocarbon radical, a substituted aromatic hydrocarbon radical or an aralkyl hydrocarbon radical, are made by reacting an amine-borane represented by the formula R13N:BH3 wherein R1 represents an aliphati hydrocarbon radical, a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical, or an aromatic hydrocarbon radical with a primary amine RNH2 under anhydrous conditions, in an inert medium at a molar ratio of about 1:1 of the reactants and at a temperature at which 2 mols. of hydrogen are split off per mol. amine, preferably in a temperature range from 40 DEG -130 DEG C., and isolating a borazole from the resulting mass. The amineborane can be made in situ by reaction of a tertiary amine, borohydride and boron halide as described in Specification 877,863. Suitable starting materials are specified. Detailed examples describe the preparation of (1) N,N1,N11 - tricyclohexyl - B,B1,B11 - trihydrogen barazole; (2) N,N1,N11 - tridodecyl - B,B1,B11 - trihydrogen borazole; (3) N,N1,N11 - tri (2 - chlorophenyl), (4) N,N1,N11 - tri (3 - chlorophenyl) - and (5) N,N1,N11 - (tri - 4 - chlorophenyl) - B,B1,B11 - trihydrogen borazole; (6) N,N1,N11 - tribenzyl - B,B1,B11 - trihydrogen borazole.
