Abstract

The invention comprises 3-methoxy- and 3-ethoxy-4-sulphanilamide-1, 2, 5-thiadiazole and their preparation by reacting a 3-halo-4-(mono or bis) [41-acylaminobenzenesulphonyl]-amino-1, 2, 5-thiadazole with an alkali-metal methoxide or ethoxide and heating the product with an aqueous alkali-metal hydroxide. 3-Halo-4-acylaminobenzenesulphonylamino-1, 2, 5-thiadazoles used as starting materials such as the 3-bromo- or chloro-4-(mono or bis) [41-carbethoxyaminobenzenesulphonyl]-amino-1, 2, 5-thiadiazole are made by halogenating 4-amino thiadiazole and treating the resulting 3-halo-4-amino-1, 2, 5-thiadiazole with a p-acylaminobenzenesulphonyl chloride.
