Abstract

The invention comprises 12-nitronaphthindolizinediones of the formula <FORM:1087222/C2/1> wherein Y is H or one CH3 group. They may be obtained by reacting the corresponding naphthindolizinedione or the corresponding 12-acetylnaphthindolizinedione with concentrated HNO3, preferably at between 0 DEG and 50 DEG C.
