A yarn clamping device for a knitting machine comprises a fixed support 35 having a foot portion 47 and against which a leaf spring 36 is urged by a further leaf spring 39. The yarn is clamped by a member 34 passing and pressing the yarn between the foot portion 47 and spring 36.
