Abstract

978,054. Blow moulding hollow articles. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. June 27, 1963 [Sept. 7, 1962], No. 34391/62. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B8] In a blow moulding process a tube of thermoplastic material e.g. polyethylene, is extruded over a hollow apertured spigot 20, Fig. 5, having a closed upper neck-forming end 22 and the mould halves 15, 16 are then closed on the spigot 20. Pressurized fluid e.g. air, is supplied to the spigot to effect blow moulding of a container 1, Fig. 1, having a closed neck portion which may subsequently be cut across and to which a cap may be attached. The bottom of the container is trimmed from the container to allow filling after which a closure 10 is snap fitted over a projection 8. Instead of the closure 10 a screw closure may be attached or the bottom may be sealed.
