Abstract
975,802. Haymaking machines. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR A.G. Dec. 15, 1960 [Dec. 17, 1959; July 5, 1960], No. 43194/60. Heading A1F. In a tractor-drawn haymaking machine of the kind having at least four rake-heads 10, 11, with pendant tines, rotatable about vertical axes, one pair of heads is arranged on a transverse carrier 6 directly behind the tractor drawplate 3 (Fig. 1, not shown) and additional heads 16, 17 are mounted on extensions 22 of the carrier detachably coupled to each of its ends. The carrier 6 has a change-speed and reversing gearbox 7 connected to the tractor power take-off through a jointed shaft 8. The heads 10, 11 on the carrier are driven directly through bevel-gears and the heads 16, 17 on the extensions through telescopic couplings (Fig. 4, not shown). In Fig. 3, the central carrier 6 telescopes into sockets on the extensions and is retained by pins entering registering holes 25. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown) the connection is by a hinge permitting free pivoting, in a vertical direction only, and providing longitudinal telescoping adjustment and in a further modification (Fig. 7, not shown) the connecting member includes a toggle-linkage providing continuous lateral adjustment between the carrier and extension.
