Abstract

953,029. Hangers for sliding doors. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Dec. 3, 1962 [Feb. 20, 1962], No. 6581/62. Heading E1J. [Also in Division B8] A vehicle door 1, Fig. 1, 2, has rollers 3, 4 on a track 6 and blocks 8 of self lubricating material, e.g. nylon, associated with each roller to prevent misalignment of the track and door. The door also has spring loaded wedges 11, Figs. 1 and 6, which co-operate with ramps 12, 13, 14, 15 in side rail 7 to press the rollers against the track to hold the door in the open and closed position, the ramps 13, 15 being off-set to one side of rail 7 and ramps 12, 14 off-set to the other so that wedge 11 associated with roller 3 engages only ramp 12 or 14 and that associated with roller 4 engages ramp 13 or 15. At each end of the bottom of the door, two blocks 15 of a plastics material engage a track 16a Fig. 7; a seal 21 and a corner 22 of the sill 18 are inclined so that they engage only when the door is closed. Two wedges on the body may engage roller 4 to hold the door open or closed instead of using double acting wedges 11; the roller 3 being of smaller diameter to pass beneath these wedges. Also blocks of plastics material at each end of the door bottom may engage a downwardly projecting flange secured to the sill, Fig. 11 not shown.
