Abstract

957,969. Valves. BETTS MACHINE CO. Oct. 30, 1962, No. 40958/62. Heading F2V. A butterfly valve comprises a valve disc 10 rotatable about a diametrical axis and having a diameter less than the diameter of the flow passage. A resilient coating 28 is bonded to the disc and is of a thickness at the peripheral edge such that the disc with its coating is a tight fit, in the valve closed position, with the flow passage. The disc 10 is provided with hubs 16, 17 which receive shafts 18, 19. The coating extends around the hubs 16, 17 to provide sealing of the shafts. The shaft 18 is provided with a groove 20 engaged by a pin which acts as a stop for the shaft while a pin in groove 26 of the shaft 19 locates this shaft.
