Abstract

Compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0956697/C2/1> wherein R1 is halogen and R2 and R3 are lower (1-6C) alkyl, lower (2-6C) alkenyl or benzyl, are prepared by treating a compound of formula: <FORM:0956697/C2/2> with an excess of an alkali metal hydride or an alkali metal amide in an inert solvent at -10 DEG C. to +10 DEG C., and, upon cessation of hydrogen evolution, adding a compound of formula R3-X (wherein X is halogen) and maintaining the mixture at -10 DEG C. to +40 DEG C. until completion of the reaction.
