Abstract

943,028. Garage lifts. MANN EGERTON & CO. Ltd. Oct. 9, 1961 [Oct. 10, 1960], No. 34712/60. Heading B8H. An open-topped tank 5 mounted within one of the two wheel-supporting platforms 2 of a garage lift receives oil draining from a vehicle 4 through an oil catcher comprising a funnel 9 mounted on a telescopic tubular arm 8, 10 which is pivoted at 12 to a drain tube 13 welded to the platform 2. When the platforms 2 are lowered, a stem 21 on a drain valve of the tank is engaged by a member 26 located in a grid in the ground, thereby opening the valve and allowing the oil to drain from the tank 5 through a conduit 14 to a reservoir 15. Two or more oil catchers are pivoted to the platform. In a modification (not shown), the arm 8, 10 is replaced by flexible semi-rigid tubing.
