Abstract

940,569. Resilient mountings; upholstery. G. GRAMMER. May 18, 1962, No. 19350/62. Headings A4M and A4U. In a sprung seat the frame 1, 6, 8, 8a carrying the seat pad 4 is pivotable about a transverse, horizontal axis and is supported by resilient ties 11 to resist downward movement at its rear. A suitably secured support member comprising a pair of laterally spaced tubes 7 carries the tubular seat frame, the latter comprising horizontal limbs 8 and an inverted U- shaped portion 1, 6 and having internal portions 8a pivotally connected by pivot members 9 to cranked ends 7a of the support 7 coaxial therewith. Extensions 10, 12 at the rear of the support 7 and frame 6 respectively are connected by rubber bands 11 engaging sinuous retainer members 13, 14, whereby the frame is resiliently suspended from the support. The seat pad 4 and backrest 5 are attached, e.g by press studs 15, to straps 3 extending between pairs of frame limbs 8, 6 and connected thereto by rubber bands 2.
