Abstract
711,399. Mattresses. TOOTHILL, Ltd., R. W., and TOOTHILL, R. W. March 11, 1953 [March 14, 1952], No. 6648/52. Class 52(4) In chairs of the kind in which the seat and back comprise sub-frames spaced away from the main frame and having zig-zag compression springs curved convexly towards the load, the rear transverse member of the seat and the lower transverse member of the back are combined in a single member located above the main frame. As shown the main frame 1 is provided at the front with upturned ends 1b which are connected by a bar 2. The ends of this bar are connected by tension springs 3, 4 to a bar carried by arms 6, 7 pivoted to the back portion 1a of the main frame 1. The upper forwardly bent ends 1d of the members 1c are connected by a bar 10 and by a tension spring 10a and are also connected to the lower bar 5 by tension springs 11, 12. The seat and back rest are provided with zig-zag springs 14, 13 respectively upon which upholstery padding and a cover, secured to studs 17, 18, are mountea. Specification 686,555 is referred to.
