947,904. Cladded frames. R. SANDYS. (Establishment Woodplast Associates). Oct. 26, 1961 [Aug. 30, 1961], No. 31175/61. Headings E1J and E1R. Metal cores 3 of the window frame or cores 11 of the sash are covered by resilient extended plastics cladding of channel section the web of which extends across one face of the core, 3, 11 and the flanges of which extend across the edges of the core and have inturned lips 17 which are sprung into overlying disposition on the opposite face of the core. One of the opposed faces of the sash 11 pivotable about an axis parallel to the plane of the window opening and of the frame 1 is provided with flexible sealing members 10 mounted in sockets 9 formed on one cladding and is arranged to sweep over curved inturned flanges 7 on the other cladding. One flange of the sash cladding 2 extends at 12 beyond the lip and has a resilient lining 13 sealing the pane 14 which is retained in position by a channel section glazing bar 15, one flange of which locates the edge of the pane 14 and the other interlocks at 18 with the other cladding flange beyond the inturned lip. Weep holes to drain away water from the frame are provided in the sill cladding.
