[Also in Division H3] A variable impedance, more particularly for use in a voltage stabilizer, comprises the basic variable impedance 5, 6, 7, 8 described in the parent Specification with an additional branch 11, 12, 13 arranged to operate in a similar manner to branch 6, 7 and 8 whereby the dissipation of the circuit is increased, more particularly for transient variations. Further similar parallel branches may be added using single or parallel transistors in each branch and the resistances 7, 11 may each comprise a resistor and a forwardly directed rectifier.
