Abstract
858,116. Transistor switching circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 10, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 11920/56. Class 40(6). In a circuit for switching current in either direction through a load L Fig. 1, two transistors Tl, T2 are fed from a common supply line 7 with the load connected between electrodes which conduct in the same direction. When the base of transistor Tl is biased negatively, current flows through resistor R2, load L and transistor T1. In a similar manner when transistor T2 is rendered conducting current flows through resistor R1, load L and transistor T2. No current flows through the load L when both of the transistors T1, T2 are either biased off or rendered fully conducting. In a modification, Fig. 2 the resistors are replaced by transistors T3, T4. Either of the pairs of transistors T1, T4 or T2, T3 is made conducting to pass current in one or other direction through the load L. With all the transistors biased off or fully conducting no current flows in the load.
