Heading B8J. [Also in Division F1] In order to absorb shock loads during anchoring or advancing a mine face conveyer 6 by an hydraulic ram, there is provided a resiliently compressible accumulator, such as a rubber sac 14, containing a gas under pressure and mounted in a casing 8 which is secured to the rear end of the ram cylinder 1, the interiors of the casing 8 and the cylinder 1 being connected by an aperture 12 in an end wall 11. The aperture 12 is provided with a fitting 13 to prevent its closure by the piston.
