Abstract

945,908. Valves. SEALOL Inc. Dec. 15, 1961, No. 45115/61. Heading F2V. A check valve comprises a body 11 into which is screwed a gland 20 having a bevelled seat 38. A cage 30 having ports such as 34, 35, allowing flow past the cage, is slidable in the body 11 and has a projection 9 formed with a sleeve 31 which receives the stem 34 of a bevelled poppet valve 40. A disc 43 of metal, plastics material or synthetic rubber is located between the projection and valve head and extends radially beyond the head, the thickness of the disc being such that it is flexible. The cage is loaded by a spring 36 and in the closed position the disc flexes and provides an auxiliary seating surface with the bevelled surface 38. The disc is preferably a tight fit on the stem and may be formed with an axial cylindrical portion surrounding the stem, the projection being recessed to allow for this. The stem may be a loose or tight fit in the sleeve.
