Abstract
941,816. Valves. H. E. THOMPSON. Sept. 19, 1961 [Sept. 29, 1960], No. 33469/61. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] A valve 10, such as for an aerosol container comprising a body of a flexibly resilient material, such as natural or synthetic rubber having a mounting flange 11 surrounding an aperture 12, an integral extension 13 providing a passage 18, and formed with stiffening webs 15 arranged such that inward flexure of the flange peripherally of the aperture imparts a rocking motion to the webs so as to cause the lower end of the extension to open. The flange is clamped between a member 22 crimped to the container neck and is provided with a tubular extension 29 on which a knob 30 is secured. The extension 13 is circular adjacent the flange and its inner surfaces arranged to come together as shown in Fig. 6 to form a closure end 14. Metal stiffeners may be embedded in the webs during moulding of the valve and three or four webs 15 may be equally spaced around the extension. Fluid may be forced into the container through the extension 29.
