Abstract

944,048. Washing machines. CONSTRUCTAWERKE G. m. b. H. April 6,1961 [April 8, 1960], No. 12365/61. Heading D1A. In an automatic washing machine liquid is alternately supplied to and discharged from the machine during the washing phase,the changeover being effected by a switch 3 having contacts 4 and 5 for energizing a water supply valve 6 and a discharge pump 7 respectively. The switch 3 may be connected to mechanism 2 for reversing a drum drive motor 1. Thus while the drum 13 is being rotated in one direction water is being supplied through the valve 6 to raise the level from 11 to 14. After a pause the drum 13 is reversed and the former level is restored by means of the pump 7 connected to an overflow 16. A main supply valve 9 and discharge pump 18 are provided, the valve 9 being controlled by a water level switch 12. The washing cycle includes rinsing and spindrying periods. The switch 3 may alternatively be controlled by a bimetal element switch or a program control device.
