931,986. Tower scaffolds. S. G. DEHN. (up-right Inc.). Nov. 26, 1959, No.40288/59. Class 20 (2). A scaffold tower section comprises three or more vertical legs 11 connected by crossbeams 12 composed of tubes 31, 32 connected together by a link 35 enclosed in a slidable sleeve 37, the legs 11 having spigot and socket connection with the legs of other tower sections. The tower sections can be collapsed by folding the crossbeams 12 which, for erecting the tower, are unfolded and the sleeve 37 slid over the link 35 and secured by a bayonet fastening 38, 39, the yielding of the link connection under compression and its binding in the sleeve also helping to secure this connection, the link pivots may be offset or openings may be provided in the sleeve to receive corners on the link to increase the binding effect. The section comprises guy wires 16 and supports at its top a platform with a central opening providing access to a ladder extending down to the platform of the next section. The tower rests on a base frame having legs adjustable for height.
