In apparatus comprising a heat insulated liquefied gas e.g., oxygen storage container 11 having a bottom liquid withdrawal pipe 14 connected by a supply line 15 to a vaporizing coil 16 and connected by a line 19 provided with a vaporising coil 20 and a pressure closing valve 21 to a gas withdrawal pipe 22 so as to generate pressure in the gas space 23 of the container, the gas withdrawal pipe 22 is connected to the liquid supply line 15 at a point upstream of coil 16 through a pressure opening valve 25 and the line 15 has a position 17 adjacent the pipe 14 which extends above the container as to provide a hydrostatic head sufficient to prevent discharge of liquid therethrough when valve 25 is open. i.e., when the pressure in the gas space 23 exceeds the normal operating value. A restriction 28 at the lower end of the vertical portion 17 of line 15 eliminates erratic flow of liquefied gas.
