Abstract

938,331. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. L'OREAL. Nov. 17, 1959 [Nov. 17, 1958; June 11, 1959], No. 38951/59. Class 102(2). The aerosol liquid in a supply reservoir for filling an aerosol container is further pressurised by an inert gas. The reservoir 22 has a valve 24 which may be depressible, as shown, or tiltable and is engageable in the outlet valve 45 or in an adjacent filling valve of a refillable container 35 provided at the opposite end with a vent valve 36 which may be tiltable, as shown, or depressible. The container 35 may be of glass with a plastic cover and the ends may have portions which bulge under excessive pressure. An excess pressure valve may be provided. An example of the aerosol liquid comprises butane, CF 2 Cl 2 , CFCl 3 , alcohol and active material and the liquid may be pressurised by nitrogen at 1À5 to 4 atmospheres.
