Abstract

992,187. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. VALVE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. June 13, 1963 [Nov. 21, 1962], No. 23595/63. Heading F1R. In an actuator cap construction for an aerosol container, a fixed cap 10 has a concave groove or finger rest 70, part of which is formed by the concave upper surface 42 of a round or other shaped button 12 set within the cap 10 so as to be guarded thereby against accidental actuation. The button 12 is inserted into the cap 10 from the top thereof and is located on a stem 14 of a metering valve 16 communicating with an orifice 30 in a lateral extension 34 of the button 12. The extension 34 is positioned opposite the groove 70 in a slot 60 in the cap 10 so that, when correctly held, the container is orientated to discharge away from the user. Further, the extension 34 provides a visual indication of the discharge direction. The cap 10 and button 12 may be moulded of plastics, such as polyethylene.
