Abstract

936,522. Floor treating machines. CIMEX Ltd. July 11, 1962 [July 19, 1961], No. 26204/61. Class 138 (1). A machine for scrubbing and vacuum drying floors has a single drive wheel 19, mounted in a central position close to the vertical line through the centre of gravity of the machine and driven by a motor 28 to move the machine over the floor surface. A scrubbing unit 10 is mounted in front of the drive wheel and has at least one scrubbing element 11 rotatable about a vertical axis and a fish-tail suction nozzle 13 is mounted at the rear to pick up liquid from the floor. Both the scrubbing unit and the suction nozzle are retractable from the floor by foot-operated and manually - operated mechanisms respectively. The rear part of the machine is supported by a pair of castors 80 freely rotatable about vertical axes, and a pair of fixed wheels 82 support the forward part when the scrubbing unit is retracted from the floor.
