Abstract

936,281. Cartons; packages. R. SKARSTEDT A.B. Feb. 14, 1961 [March 29, 1960], No. 5409/61. Classes 18 and 94(1). A carton 1, Fig. 6, with an opening flap 3 contains a liquid-filled flexible bag 2 with a spout-shaped portion 4 which projects through the opening when the flap is opened, the flap being formed by tear-strip areas 18, 19, Fig. 1, of two end closing flaps, the tear lines of the part 18 extending over the adjacent edge of the carton. The carton is formed from a blank A, Fig. 1, with flaps 9-12 forming the bottom and 13-16 the top, flap 16 having a gummed portion 16a to which the lining bag 2 is secured. The flaps 13, 14, have tear out portions 18, 19 which form the opening flap 3, the flaps 13, 15 first being folded in, then flap 16, and then flap 14 which is gummed all over. The bag 2, Fig. 2, preferably of plastic, is provided with one or two obliquely cut ends so that the top left hand corner forms a spout and when filled a bubble of air or other gas 20 remains to enable the corner of the spout portion 4, Fig. 6, to be cut off without spilling liquid. The filled bag 2 is inserted into the inverted carton 1, Fig. 5, through the open bottom 9, 11 so that the bag becomes secured to the gummed portion 16a of the previously closed top, and the bottom flaps are then closed,
